It can be frustrating to look for a file and not to be able to find it. No Nonsense Software addressed this by coming up with the powerful cataloguing utility SuperCat. Using this application, you can quickly catalog data stored on hard drives, optical discs, removable USB drives, and other storage devices. By searching through the catalog, the application helps you find whatever file you are looking for.

You can install SuperCat on anything from Windows 2000 up to Windows 7. Through the installation process you will be guided by a simple setup wizard and you will be done in very little time. When you’re done and you launch SuperCat, you will be presented with a Getting Started prompt that explains what functionality SuperCat has to offer and how to access it (more about this after the interface presentation).

The panel from the top part of the application’s interface features several tabs (what they do is self explanatory): Search Catalogs, Create Catalog, Catalog Explorer, Find Local Files, Find Duplicates, Scheduler. Beneath this panel there’s a Search Result panel. And at the top there’s a traditional File Menu and a toolbar with buttons for various functions the application can perform.

As it is stipulated in the Getting Started prompt, using SuperCat is a fairly simple process: click the Create Catalog tab, select the disk you want to catalog, and click the Catalog button. Do this on your own for all the disks you want to catalog or use the scheduler function to automatically catalog disks. Once you have your catalogs, you can explore them, use the powerful search function to locate files, and you can find duplicates.

You can use SuperCat free of charge for a trial period of 30 days. When this evaluation period expires, you will have to get a license to keep using SuperCat.

The powerful cataloguing utility SuperCat provides a handy means of keeping track of and locating files.

Pros

SuperCat works with numerous Windows editions. The Getting Started prompt displays useful information on how to use SuperCat. Easily create catalogs, efficiently find files and duplicates.

Cons

Free to use for a 30-day period; nag screen.
